Gambling firms cut odds on Premier League glory for Man United.
Sports betting firm William Hill has shortened its odds on Manchester United winning the 2008-09 Premier League from 6/4 to 11/8.Sir Alex Ferguson's side are now favourites to win the league following their 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on Monday night (December 29th).
United will head into the new year in third place on 38 points - seven points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, although they still have two games in hand.
William Hill makes Chelsea second favourites for the title at 2/1, despite the west Londoners being held to a 2-2 draw at Fulham on December 28th, while Liverpool are priced at 5/2 following their 5-1 win at Newcastle United.
Manchester United are also favourites for the FA Cup, with Ladbrokes offering 7/2 on the north-west outfit ahead of this weekend's third-round ties.
Chelsea can be backed at 4/1 to win the competition, while holders Portsmouth are available at 20/1.
