Football Betting: Title Odds Cut On Man Utd

Gambling firms cut odds on Premier League glory for Man United.

Sports betting firm William Hill has shortened its odds on Manchester United winning the 2008-09 Premier League from 6/4 to 11/8.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side are now favourites to win the league following their 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on Monday night (December 29th).

United will head into the new year in third place on 38 points - seven points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, although they still have two games in hand.

William Hill makes Chelsea second favourites for the title at 2/1, despite the west Londoners being held to a 2-2 draw at Fulham on December 28th, while Liverpool are priced at 5/2 following their 5-1 win at Newcastle United.

Manchester United are also favourites for the FA Cup, with Ladbrokes offering 7/2 on the north-west outfit ahead of this weekend's third-round ties.

Chelsea can be backed at 4/1 to win the competition, while holders Portsmouth are available at 20/1.
