A man from Ashdod surprised local residents by running through the town naked after losing a poker game bet. The man was spotted by police and subsequently detained.
The Ashdod man, who has not been named, was said to have been in his 20s. He lost a card game at his home, and, in keeping with the rules agreed upon by him and his friends, he had to run from his home to the beach, naked, take a swim, then return home.
The man went through with his promise, shocking city residents as he ran naked through the city streets and parks. Some concerned people called the police, and Patrol Officer Levin Constantine went to check the area, and saw the man swimming.
The man was ordered to come out of the water, and he explained to the police about the bet that he had lost, saying “I ask you to allow me to return to my friends naked.” The police refused, and arrested him on charges of public nudity.
The police covered the man with two sheets before taking him back to his home, meaning that he not only lost the card game that day, but also the bet. Fortunately, the police decided to close the case against him once he was returned, clothed, to his home.
