Phelps has temporarily swapped the pool for poker
Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps has been tipped to make a big splash in the world of poker. The record-breaking swimmer has been in Las Vegas picking up tips on the game from seasoned champion Doyle Brunson.
And while the American hit the casino floors of Sin City as just an interested amateur, Brunson has revealed that he would be easily able to bring his golden touch to the card game should he wish.
Speaking to Gambling911, he explained: "Phelps and some of his friends wanted books so I took Super System 1 and 2 to them and they asked all kinds of poker questions.
"Michael said all he wanted to do in life was to eat, swim and play poker."
Should the swimming legend opt to swap the pool for the poker table he would be in good company, with cricket superstar Shane Warne and former footballer Tony Cascarino among the sportsmen currently trying their luck on the world poker scene.
