Online Bingo Sees Growth In Player Numbers

Online bingo players on the increase, according to research

A substantial growth in the number of people playing bingo online has been recorded for 2008.

Figures from internet bingo monitor bingoport.co.uk reveal that active online bingo player numbers increased by 80 per cent during the six-month period between May and October this year.

Scott Logan, director of the website, said the increase reflects online bingo's ongoing expansion in the face of economic pressures in the wider gaming industry.

He commented: "We have been tracking the UK online bingo industry for over 18 months now and we are starting to see some fascinating and positive trends.

"We are of course watching the global financial crisis closely, but our data suggests active online bingo player numbers should continue to rise in the foreseeable future."

Earlier this year, the website revealed that players at UK bingo sites collectively spend over £600 million per year on the numbers game.

BingoPort is set to host its 2009 Players Choice Awards in London on January 30th.
