Lycos have announced the most searched terms of 2008, and while some of the terms are no surprise – Paris Hilton any one? Other terms making the list were a little more interesting.
Top searched terms of 2008 included Poker, and Golf. Poker was actually at the top of the list for the third time running, beating out Britney Spears, Sarah Palin, and Pamela Anderson.
With the publicity surrounding big prize money poker tournaments, it’s natural that web users would want to know more, and perhaps see if they could join the online poker scene themselves.
Poker, which has enjoyed a lot of media attention this year thanks to the World Series of Poker and all-year round celebrity Poker tournaments, managed to beat Paris Hilton by five percent in the search stakes.
The top 50 are tracked monthly, and an ongoing record is kept, including the ‘Lycos 50 Elite’ which includes Pamela Anderson, Dragonball, and Britney Spears, who have been ranked in the list every year since 1999.
