Pub poker final to take place in Las Vegas.
An amateur poker player from Scotland is celebrating after his card-playing skills won him a trip to Las Vegas.Charlie Johnston, a 54-year-old plumber from Ayr, will be playing poker in the US casino capital next summer as part of the Poker in the Pub League, the Ayrshire Post reports.
He is one of five players who will battle it out for the league title in Nevada, having made it through the Scottish and UK finals this year.
Mr Johnston's poker journey began at the Old Racecourse, his local bar in Ayr.
Landlord Mark Valentine told the newspaper: "We get together and just play for fun, so it's great that Charlie has gone all the way and will play on a stage like this."
"Charlie has proved to us all just how far you can go."
The Scotsman heads out to Las Vegas, home of the World Series of Poker, for the final showdown in June.
