Bingo hall to remain open for Yorkshire gamers.
Developers in Harrogate altered their plans to demolish a bingo hall in the town after local people spoke out in support of the venue. The Lucky Numbers bingo venue was due to be converted into ten new flats by owners Bartle Leisure, but residents of the Yorkshire town expressed concern that a local landmark would be lost, the Harrogate Advertiser reports.
As a result, the company has agreed to change its development plans for the Skipton Road site, with the number of flats scaled down to eight to accommodate the bingo club.
Lucky Numbers will be made smaller and moved to a new building, but the well-loved numbers game venue is set to remain on the same site.
According to the newspaper, the revised planning application was unanimously approved by Harrogate borough council last week.
Lucky Numbers is the last bingo club in Harrogate, although fans of the game can also play at nearby venues such as Mecca Bingo in York.
