The swearing in of America’s first black president is a big event, and even people who aren’t normally all that interested in politics are taking an interest. It’s natural, then, for companies to try to cash in on the event.
You can get everything from food and drink to souvenir china with celebratory slogans. Even big name brands like Ikea are cashing in with presidential slogans, hoping to inspire customers to spend despite the current economic climate.
Seeing a presidential bingo game cropping up online, however, is unusual – you’d think the one place you could escape from politics would be with a little online gaming! Mrs Obama Bingo is the latest in themed bingo games, and claims a presidential link because Obama’s stepmother – Kezia, of Bracknell, Berkshire, is a keen bingo fan. Kezia, aged 67, has lent her name to the game, which will see some of the proceeds donated to the Sue Ryder Foundation charity.
