Mecca conducts friendship poll as part of Bingo Buddy competition.
A new survey has revealed that UK bingo players are more likely to tell their close friends than their partners if they win money at the numbers game. The poll, which was conducted at Mecca Bingo in Ashford, found that 77 per cent of players in the Kent town would let their friends know about a bingo jackpot, while only 65 per cent would tell their partner, the Ashford News reports.
Bingo players took part in the survey as part of Mecca's Bingo Buddy promotion, which features the chance to win a shopping trip to New York or a VIP theatre break in London.
"These results confirm the importance that our members place on their friendships, many of which have been developed through meeting to play bingo," commented Helen McCarthy, manager of the Ashford venue.
She added: "The fact they would tell their best friend about their winnings before anyone else speaks volumes about the strength of those friendships."
Applications for the Bingo Buddy competition, in which players are invited to nominate their bingo friends for the title, must be handed in by January 31st.
