Casino Event Raises Money For Bury Charity

Charity event uses casino games to raise money.

A casino-themed event in Greater Manchester has generated £4,300 for a local charity.

Bury Hospice is set to receive the proceeds following the 'Las Vegas-style' gambling night at the Man Yuen restaurant in Tottington last month, the Bury Times reports.

About 160 guests attended the event, which also included a mini-auction and raffle as well as casino games.

In March last year, the support group for the hospice organised a balloon race to raise money, while a 50-kilometre bike ride also took place to generate funds.

Bury Hospice provides nursing care and medical assistance to local people with life-threatening or terminal illnesses.

Last month, a group of fundraisers from East Sussex organised a 12-hour 'poker marathon' to generate cash for the Intensive Trauma Unit at Conquest Hospital in Bexhill, the Rye & Battle Observer reports.

The group are aiming to raise £75,000 through similar activities by next Christmas.
