Barrow-based poker player wins place at European tournament.
An amateur poker player from Barrow-in-Furness is preparing to fly out to Estonia for the European Masters of Poker next month.Paul Robinson won a place at the first leg of the event, which takes place at the Casino Olympic in Tallinn from February 20th to 22nd, through an online qualifying tournament.
"I'm really excited about going to Estonia," he told the North-West Evening Mail.
Mr Robinson, who runs the Furness Poker Club in his hometown, will go up against 100 of Europe's best poker players in the Estonian capital for a first prize of 50,000 (£47,265).
According to the local newspaper, the 40-year-old's biggest poker prize date is $2,500 (£1,800).
"I don't know exactly how much I've won over the years but it's definitely a positive number," he said.
The European Masters of Poker is a series of five events, with the subsequent tournaments taking place in Cyprus, Spain, Czech Republic and Malta.
