Historic Black Country Bingo Venue Could Return

Iconic venue to return as bingo hall?

A former bingo hall in the Black Country town of Cradley Heath may be restored to its former glories after closing in March last year, it has emerged.

The Old Hill Plaza was shut down when owner Mary Regan died, but the building's new owners have said that bringing bingo back to the venue is one of the options currently under consideration.

According to the Express and Star, the owners have been inundated with requests from local residents who are keen to see the Old Hill Plaza re-launch as a bingo club.

Spokesperson for the owners Jay Dubb told the local newspaper: "We are still considering our options at the moment, but one thing we are thinking about is reopening it as a bingo hall.

"We have been asked by local residents to do that, so it is obviously a popular choice."

The Old Hill Plaza is a former music venue and iconic status among local people. During its heyday in the 1960s, the club staged performances by acts such as the Beatles, the Animals and Dusty Springfield.

Existing bingo venues in the West Midlands include Mecca Bingo in West Bromwich and Gala Bingo in Wednesbury.
