Casino workers hope for reopening of Huddersfield venue.
Residents of Huddersfield are hopeful that the town's Casino Red will soon open its doors again. The £5 million gaming venue closed in November, just eight weeks after its initial launch, with the economic downturn causing several banks to withdraw their funding for the venture, the Huddersfield Examiner reports.
However, the company's online gaming business casinored.com was not affected by the closure and continues to sponsor Huddersfield Town football club.
Sean Jarvis, director of business development at the club, has offered some hope for local casino workers by claiming that the venue could re-launch with the backing of a new investor.
"A lot of work is being done behind the scenes and the impression the directors have given is that they are optimistic about the future," Mr Javis told the newspaper.
"We wish them every success and hope that they come through this and secure the investment they need," he added.
Huddersfield is also home to a Grosvenor Casino, which offer roulette, blackjack, poker and slot machine facilities.
