Poker Stars Compete In Caribbean

Professional poker players such as Peter Eastgate and Chris Moneymaker are set to do battle in the Bahamas today (January 7th) as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).

The European Poker Tour event got underway yesterday, when players such as Marcin Horecki, Greg Raymer and the UK's Victoria Coren successfully made it through to the next round.

However, today's action is due to feature even bigger stars of the poker world, with Eastgate, the current World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion, going up against former main event winner Moneymaker.

The PCA's defending champion Bertrand Grospellier is also in the field, while former tennis star Boris Becker gets a chance to demonstrate his poker skills in the Bahamas.

After Day 1a of the event, Brazilian player Felipe Ramos leads the field having amassed 360,100 chips.

A record prize pool is expected for this year's PCA, with over $2 million up for grabs for whoever emerges as the winner on Saturday.

Moneymaker shot to fame when he took down the WSOP main event as a relatively unknown player in 2003. He won a trip to the prestigious tournament in Las Vegas while working as an accountant.
