Copenhagen poker championship due to take place in February.
Online qualifying for the next leg of the European Poker Tour (EPT) is already underway, with 70 PokerStars players having won their seats already.Beginning in Copenhagen on February 17th, the EPT Scandinavian Open has a buy-in of 50,000 Danish kroner (£6,219) and a player limit of 500.
According to the EPT, the poker tournament is traditionally "a pivotal event in the EPT calendar and always proves a gripping contest, with Scandinavians on their home turf and prepared to fight all the way".
Players expected to take part in the Danish capital next month include two of the country's biggest poker stars 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event winner Peter Eastgate and Gus Hansen, who holds a record three World Poker Tour titles.
Also among the confirmed participants are last year's WSOP finalist Ivan Demidov, former EPT champion Michael Schulze and Thomas Brolin, the former Leeds United and Sweden footballer.
The most recent EPT champion is Germany's Moritz Kranich, who won 851,400 (£790,150) at the event in Deauville, France last week.
