Grandmother celebrates big bingo win at Lancashire club.

A Lancashire grandmother is celebrating this week after winning over £54,000 at her local bingo club in Morecambe.

Gillian Sutherland, who lives in nearby Bare, said she was "in shock" after pocketing £54,019.24 when her numbers came up on the High 5 game at Gala Bingo, the Morecambe Visitor reports.

Described as a "die-hard bingo lover" by the local newspaper, Ms Sutherland claimed she was initially "quite calm" about the win but soon found herself overcome by excitement.

"It was lovely when I won as everyone was cheering and congratulating me," she said.

Mark Dowling, general manager at Gala Bingo in Morecambe, told the newspaper: "This is a massive win and it's great for our community to know that someone from such a small town can win something like this at our club."

Last week, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reported that an unidentified player had won £57,000 on his first ever trip to a bingo hall in Kettering.
