Reluctant bingo player celebrates major win.
A man from Kettering has described himself as "in shock" after winning £57,000 on his first trip to the bingo hall. The anonymous gamer was initially reluctant to visit his local Gala Bingo club, but went along after being persuaded by his girlfriend and her mother, the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reports.
During his fourth game the man won a High 5 jackpot of £57,000, although he is still attempting to come to terms with the size of his windfall.
He told the newspaper: "When I won I was in shock I don't think I will really believe how much I've won until I have the money in my hands."
Durwin Reay, manager of Gala Bingo in Kettering, described the jackpot as "a tremendous win for someone so new to the game".
With over 175 clubs in the UK, Gala pays out approximately £28 million in bingo prizes each week.
