North Wales golf club raises money with casino games.
A North Wales golf club was given a Las Vegas-style makeover to raise money for two local charities with a casino night.Members of Mold Golf Club in Flintshire played roulette, blackjack and other casino games to help raise money for Nightingale House Hospice and the North East Wales Search and Rescue, the Evening Leader reports.
The event, which was organised as part of the club's centenary celebrations, generated over £1,000 for the charitable organizations.
"It was a brilliant night, great fun and a real tonic for the January blues," Anne Lloyd Davies, organiser and member of the club's centenary committee, told the local newspaper.
Several of the committee members acted as casino croupiers for the evening, while a special lottery was also arranged to boost the fundraising effort.
The annual Mayor's Charity Ball is set to take place in Barnstaple, Devon on February 6th, when a special gambling area known as the 'Casino Mayorale' will be available, the North Devon Gazette reports.
