Finnish poker ace celebrates victory

Teenager from Finland wins £779,921 at Copenhagen poker tournament.

Jens Kyllonen, a 19-year-old poker player from Helsinki, is €878,057 (£779,921) richer after winning the European Poker Tour (EPT) Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen.

The Finn beat Swedish veteran Peter Hedlund in heads-up play to clinch the first prize at Casino Copenhagen, with Hedlund taking home nearly €500,000 for second place.

Kyllonen was one of 276 players hailing from the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland taking part in the event.

He told the EPT website afterwards: "I really like the EPT atmosphere and I'm planning to play the rest of the events this season.

"I don't think it has really sunk in what I have done yet, but I feel pretty great."

This year's EPT Copenhagen attracted a record field of 462 players, with 30 nationalities represented and 112 players winning their seats online through Poker Stars.

Next month the Tour heads to Dortmund for the EPT German Open, which begins on March 10th.
