Bingo portals want to keep old of existing players

Online bingo expert makes predictions for the future of the sector.

A gaming expert has said that many online bingo operators will soon devote their energies to retaining their existing customer base rather than attracting new players.

Paul Fraser, owner of whichbingo.co.uk, said that the increasingly competitive nature of the online bingo market means that companies are set to seek ways of consolidating their position instead of campaigning for new members.

He claimed that bingo firms will aim to keep their websites fresh and appealing to existing players by using new software and innovative marketing techniques.

"I think a lot more companies will focus on retention and re-starter players rather than [the] recruitment of players," Mr Fraser commented.

"You may well see budgets move from recruitment trying to get new players to play, to retention budgets trying to make players stay."

According to a report released by bingoport.co.uk earlier this month, the number of online bingo players in the UK increased by just one per cent in the final quarter of 2008.
