Lower odds for Scolari departure as Chelsea lose at Anfield.
Bookmakers have cut their odds on Luis Felipe Scolari leaving Chelsea this year following the west London club's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday (February 1st).Two late goals from Fernando Torres ensured victory for Liverpool at Anfield, with Chelsea now five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United having played one game more.
William Hill now makes Scolari 8/13 to his position as Chelsea manager during 2009, with rumours that billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is no longer willing to fund major transfers also increasing the uncertainty surrounding his position.
"Scolari's long-term future seems to be in doubt as much because of the club's financial situation as for his own apparent difficulty in adapting to the high pressure Premier League atmosphere," commented Graham Sharpe, spokesperson for the bookmaker.
William Hill offers 7/2 on Scolari leaving Stamford Bridge in 2010 and 11/2 on a departure in 2011.
Chelsea's odds of winning the Premier League are now out to 8/1 with Ladbrokes.
