Bookmakers taking tricast bets on Premier League finish.
With Manchester United's lead at the top of the Premier League looking increasingly unassailable, bookmaker William Hill has started taking bets on the correct order of teams finishing first, second and third.Man United in first place, Liverpool second and Chelsea third is the current favourite in the tricast market at 7/4, while punters expecting Aston Villa to beat Chelsea to third can get odds of 11/2.
Alternatively, backing Arsenal to finish third behind United and Liverpool comes with odds of 12/1.
"Many punters now seem to think United are home and dry, a good proportion believe Liverpool are good things to finish runners-up, but the battle for third place is a very tough one to call," commented William Hill spokesperson Graham Sharpe.
United are now 1/7 for the league title at William Hill, with Liverpool priced at 6/1 and Chelsea 20/1.
Paddy Power surprised punters yesterday (February 19th) by deciding to pay out early on Sir Alex Ferguson's side winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup.
"We just can't see anything other than the domestic treble for the Red Devils this year," the bookmaker explained on its blog.
