Day four of the World Poker Tour $10,000 no-limit hold’em championship saw 63 players sit down at the table, but only 20 of those survived the six levels of play scheduled for the day.

Initially, eliminations came in thick and fast – with a double and a triple elimination in the first ten minutes of play, and steady eliminations after that. The plan for the day had originally been to play until either five levels were completed, or the field dropped to 18 players, but a sixth level was added as after the early batch of eliminations – which saw the field reduced to 33 players, the game slowed down and the field steadied.

The sixth level started around 9PM, and eventually the field was thinned to twenty competitors. Former chip leader Kofi Farkye was one of the late eliminations, busting out in 31st place.

At the end of the day, Chris Ferguson sat with a comfortable chip lead on 1,712,000 – ahead of Payman Arjang on 1,488,000 and Chris Karagulleyan on 1,1466,000. Just holding on to the top 20 are Donald D’auria, Billy Pilossoph and Cornell Cimpan, who all hold less than 250,000 chips.

The remaining players will sit down tomorrow to play down to the final table of six competitors.
