Day 2 of the first WSOP Circuit Championship of the year has now concluded. The tournament saw 27 players return to the table, to battle for the gold ring and almost $200,000 in prize money. By the end of play, only nine competitors remained.
The first noteworthy elimination was Tom Franklin, who ended up contributing to Matt Stout’s large stack, losing all his chips in two bad hands, and going home in 21st place. Next out was Jordan Morgan, who went all in with a middle pair, losing out to a stronger pair and going home two places short of a prize. Kathy Leibert went out in 19th as the last remaining woman in the tournament, but she still takes something home – thanks to round-for-round play, she’ll be sharing prize money with the 18th place competitor, Va Shon Watkins.
The tenth place player was Gavin Smith, who busted out when his pocket 8s failed to match up to the pocket 3s and the 3 on the flop. He took home $14,718 for his efforts.
