Council approves casino's application for 24-hour gaming licence.
Gala Casino in Aberdeen is set to provide the city's residents with round-the-clock gaming services after its bid for a 24-hour licence was approved. The venue had previously opened in the afternoon and closed at 05:00, but will now extend its hours after getting the green light from the local council's licensing board.
According to the Aberdeen Press and Journal, councillor Ronald Clark said that any changes to the day-to-day running of the casino will be "minimal".
He explained: "I don't see these extended opening hours being detrimental to the area, as the casino already closes in the early hours and opens again in the afternoon.
"It's unlikely that a deluge of people will take advantage of these new hours, maybe a few people coming off night shifts."
A spokesperson for Gala Coral said that the Aberdeen venue is the 16th of its casinos to provide 24-hour gaming in the UK.
The firm currently operates 27 casinos, as well as over 150 bingo clubs and almost 2,000 betting shops.
