Bingo Club Announces Green Lightbulb Giveaway

Bingo operator to give away energy-saving lightbulbs in Bridlington.

A bingo club in Yorkshire is giving away 20,000 energy-saving lightbulbs.

Staff from the Gala Bingo venue in Bridlington visited the seaside town's Promenades Shopping Centre this week to hand out twin-packs of the special bulbs, the Bridlington Free Press reports.

Tim Clarke, manager at the bingo club, explained that the lightbulbs were actually left over from one of Gala's previous promotions.

"We had the bulbs as part of a nationwide promotion over Christmas," he told the newspaper.

"There were still thousands left over so I offered to take some because I thought it would be good to give them out to people in Bridlington."

Mr Clarke said the bulbs would help local residents to save money on their energy bills, as well helping the environment.

Gala runs over 175 bingo clubs and has more than five million members in the UK.

Recent winners at Gala include Gillian Sutherland, who won over £54,000 at her local venue in Morecambe.
