Crewe's Mecca Bingo club hosts MP

MP backs bingo industry with trip to Crewe venue.

A politician showed his support for the bingo industry by swapping the Houses of Parliament for a full house at his local numbers game venue recently.

Edward Timpson, the Conservative MP for Crewe and Nantwich, stopped in at Mecca Bingo in Crewe on Friday (March 20th) to meet the management team and play a few games with members.

Accompanied by his wife Julia, the minister failed to win a game but nevertheless enjoyed his visit to the bingo hall, the Crewe and Nantwich Guardian reports.

"Julia and I had a fantastic time again at Mecca Bingo," Mr Timpson told the newspaper.

"I was very pleased to see such a high turnout and would urge people to support their local bingo hall if they fancy a good night out."

Mr Timpson explained that he was one of the MPs who has been campaigning for tax reforms to benefit the bingo industry.

The numbers game has been a hot topic in Westminster recently, with many politicians claiming that the current system of "double taxation" is unfair.
