The South by Southwest Conference is turning into a competition for many people, thanks to a twitter-fuelled bingo game. You’ve heard of ‘boardroom bingo’ – this is similar, except it is aimed at people attending the technology and entertainment conference.
There are some pretty common sights to tick off – keep your eyes open for some internet big names, geek girls, popular snacks, and people getting into drinking, but there are some other more unusual sights too – ranging from celebrities to a Zune, and someone wearing a Snuggie.
Danny Wen, the co-founder of Iridesco, the company behind the game, said “We wanted things, situations or people that had just the right mix of geek, fun and relevancy to the conference. Some of the clues were deliberately open-ended, like ‘geek girl’ to give participants a chance for dialogue with each other, using the bingo card as an easy conversation piece.”
If you’d like to take part in the game, you can download the cardfrom SXSWBingo.com – take photos of the things you see which match the bingo board, and upload the pictures to Twitpic. When you complete five squares in a row, tweet Bingo! With the hastag #sxswbingo to declare your victory.
The game is just for fun, of course, but it should help spice up the conference!
