Professional poker player Jennifer Harman hosted a two-day fundraiser in Reno, Nevada last week, raising more than $110,000 for the National Kidney Foundation.
The event started on Tuesday witha Masters Forum poker Acadamy which was co-ordinated by LIPS founder Lupe Soto. The evening saw a party hosted by Doug Worton, and on Wednesday there was a celebrity red carpet walk and Harman’s first annual charity poker tournament started. Wednesday also saw an NKF Silent Auction and a LIPS Vendor Faire.
The poker tournament saw a number of big-name attendees, including Marco Traniello, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, Todd Brunson, and Jeff Madsen, as well as ESPN commentator Lon McEachern, the snowboarder Jeff Brushie, and NBA vets Michael Brown and Doug Lee.
Harman said “this is the largest field of any charity event I’ve hosted. The outpouring of support exceeded any expectations. I can’t thank the poker community enough for its generosity.”
The tournament was won by William Roberts of Reno, Nevada. He received a Legacy Alliance custom crystal trophy, a $5,000 World Poker Challenge entry, and a Curtis & Co Watch as his prize.
Roberts said “It ‘s always great to play poker for a good cause. I was just glad to be a part of it. Jennifer did a great job and everyone had a blast.”
