Poker Face, the new single from Lady GaGa, rises to number one spot.
A poker-themed pop song has given US singer Lady GaGa her second number one in the UK singles chart.Ten weeks after it first entered the chart, Poker Face climbed from number four to replace Islands in the Stream, the Comic Relief single by Gavin and Stacey stars Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon, at number one.
Lady GaGa's debut album The Fame has already spawned one chart-topping single, with Just Dance spending three weeks at the summit in January.
Poker Face, which uses poker terminology as a metaphor for a romantic liaison, has been cited as an example of the card game's growing influence on popular culture.
The song has already topped the charts in Australia, Ireland and Canada.
Raised in New York, Lady GaGa has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top after initially working as a songwriter for other acts such as the Pussycat Dolls.
Just Dance was nominated for a Grammy and the 23-year-old singer performed alongside the Pet Shop Boys at this year's Brit Awards.
