German player takes down major poker tournament in Dortmund.
Germany's Sandra Naujoks became the second female player to win a European Poker Tour (EPT) title with victory in Dortmund on Saturday (March 14th).The 27-year-old from Dessau outlasted a field of 667 players and beat compatriot Holger Kanisch in the final heads-up session to win 917,000 (£839,776) at EPT Dortmund.
Known by her online poker name Black Mamba, Naujoks was named Europe's Leading Lady at the European Poker Awards earlier this year.
She is the third German player to win an EPT event this season, with Sebastian Ruthenberg triumphing at EPT Barcelona in September and Moritz Kranich winning the Deauville event in January.
Italy's Luca Pagano was eliminated in sixth place in Dortmund, but secured a record tenth cash finish in an EPT event, while defending champion Mike McDonald of Canada exited in fifth place.
The next EPT tournament takes place in San Remo, Italy from April 18th to 23rd.
