The final eight players met yesterday for the conclusion of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The winner would take home $500,000. The first four matches determined the winners for each bracket, and then the four winners sat down to play.
The first batch of matches saw Huck Seed take out David Oppenheim to secure his place in the final four. David Williams went all in against Sam Farha to fall foul of a flop and give Farha a position on the final table. In the next two matches, Phil Helmuth was knocked out by Bertrand Grospellier, and Daniel Negreanu was knocked out by Banessa Rousso.
The players eliminated in those first rounds all went home with $75,000.
Rousso proved to be on a roll, and she earned the first elimination of the final four by taking out Grospellier. In the mean time, Seed and Farha spent time trading chips before Farha was sent home. Both Grospellier and Farha took home $125,000. Her roll was stopped by Huck Seed, who spent an hour whittling down her stack before finally sending her home with $250,000.
Huck Seed took the $500,000 prize, and can add the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship to his list of bracelets and titles.
