Heart attack woman saved by fellow bingo player.
Players at a West Midlands bingo venue recently witnessed a dramatic scene that for once had nothing to do with the cash prizes on offer.Off-duty paramedic Lee Farley was called into action at the Mecca Bingo hall in Brierley Hill when 56-year-old bingo fan Sandra Andrews suffered a severe heart attack during an interval between games, the Express & Star reports.
Now recovering at home, the Kidderminster resident was quick to thank Mr Farley, who works for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"If it wasn't for him I don't think I would be here, it's as simple as that. He literally saved my life," Ms Andrews told the newspaper.
Mr Farley revealed that he feared the worst after losing Ms Andrews' pulse.
"I had to start resuscitation, it was a race against time and I did think Sandra was going to die, because normally at that stage it's game over," he explained.
For another player at the bingo venue it was a dramatic evening for an entirely different reason, as they won £24,000 on the numbers game.
A woman from Cumbria recently scooped £23,600 at the Opera Bingo club in Penrith.
