The European Poker Tour concluded last week. There were 667 players taking part in the 5,000Euro buy-in tournament in Germany, and the final table saw an interesting mixture of competitors.
William Thorson, Luca Pagano, Johan Storakers, Mike McDonald, Holger Kanisch, Sandra Naujoks, Marc Gork, and Cengizcan Ulusu.
Cengizcan was the first to be eliminated, and went home with 83,500 Euros. Next out was William Thorson, who took home 116,500 Euros, followed by Luca Pagano who had started the day as a chip leader. He took home 153,000 for his efforts.
Fourth place, and a prize of £237,000 was taken by Johan Storakers, who was the second person to be eliminated by Naujoks on the final table. Storakers had hoped for a finish in the top four, as he wanted to buy a house with the prize money.
Third place was taken by Marc Gork. He was eliminated by Holger Kanisch after his King/10 fared poorly against Kanisch’s two pocket sevens. Gork took away 307,000 Euros for third place.
Heads up play between Kanisch and Naujoks lasted for around one hour with some big hands going back and forth before Kanisch finally fell when his Ace and Queen fell prey to Naujoks’ Ace and Nine with another nine on the river.
Kanisch was awarded 533,000 Euros for second place, while Naujoks won 917,000 Euros.
