New casino project in Hull attracting interest from leisure operators.
The prospect of a new gambling venue in Hull has attracted the interest of three separate companies.According to the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City Council leader Carl Minns revealed at a recent meeting that a trio of firms have made inquiries about the city's new casino licence.
Hull was one of eight UK locations given permission for a new large casino under gambling legislation passed by the government last year.
Apollo Casino Resorts has already revealed plans for a £25 million entertainment complex at Manor Mill, a proposed development in the city centre.
Speaking about Hull's new casino licence, councillor Minns said: "This council has a statutory duty to ensure this licence is issued.
"Now we have the power to do so, I believe we should get on and issue it."
A group of senior council members are due to discuss the procedure for awarding the casino licence this month.
The other locations selected for large casino licences are Great Yarmouth, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Newham in east London, Solihull and Southampton.
