Card sharps play poker for US kidney charity in Nevada.
Card ace Jennifer Harman has donated more than $111,000 (£78,809) to the US National Kidney Foundation charity after gathering the poker community for a major fundraising event in Nevada.Over 300 players headed to the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno for the poker tournament last week, with top pros such as Harman's husband Marco Traniello, Howard Lederer, Maria Ho, Andy Bloch and Todd Brunson among the field.
Reno resident William Roberts emerged as the overall individual winner, taking home a crystal trophy, a $5,000 World Poker Challenge entry and a watch from Curtis & Co.
"I was just glad to be a part of it. Jennifer did a great job and everyone had a blast," he said afterwards.
Harman was delighted with the size of the turnout, with 22 ten-player teams entered in a side event sponsored by Full Tilt Poker.
"This is the largest field of any charity event I have hosted. I can't thank the poker community enough for its generosity," she said.
Harman is the only woman to have won two World Series of Poker bracelets in open events.
