Major poker tournament coming to Italy in May.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) is preparing to head to Italy for the first time ever in May, with a new event set to take place in Venice.Running from May 6th to 10th, the 4,400 (£4,061) buy-in event will be staged at the Casino di Venezia, a glamorous gambling venue on the east bank of the Grand Canal.
With a $25,000 seat in the 2010 WPT Championship up for grabs, all the action from WPT Venice will be broadcast online by Austria-based gambling company bwin.com.
Steve Lipscomb, founder and president of the WPT, commented: "bwin is a strong partner with the right market position in the region.
"We look forward to working with them to bring this event and the WPT brand to poker players in Italy and Europe."
The WPT recently confirmed that WPT Marrakesh, the Tour's first African event, will take place in the Moroccan city in October.
