West Midlands bingo player scoops £27,000 on numbers game.

A 32-year-old man said he was in "absolute shock" after winning nearly £27,000 at a bingo venue in Walsall.

The lucky player's numbers came up on the High 5 game at Gala Bingo in Aldridge, meaning he will get to share £53,972.25 with one other participant, the Walsall Advertiser reports.

Now based in the West Midlands after moving with his family from Cornwall, the unidentified winner visits the Walsall bingo club with his family on a weekly basis.

"I'm still in absolute shock … We're a family of bingo-ers, so this win really means a lot to us," he told the newspaper.

"We're going to use this money to celebrate as a family."

Dave Karim, manager at Gala Bingo in Walsall, described the win as "great news for the community".

"The fact that a massive win like this can happen in our neck of the woods is a fantastic story, particularly in light of the current economic climate," he added.

Gillian Sutherland, a grandmother from Morecambe, recently won £54,019.24 at a Gala Bingo venue in the Lancashire town, the Morecambe Visitor reports.
