Harrah’s have announced that the pre-registration period has begun for the 2009 World Series of Poker. Players can register online, or in person at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino – the venue which will be the host of the World Series of Poker this year.
The 2009 WSOP is the 40th edition of the poker tournament. It will run from May 26 through to July 15th, and include 57 bracelet tournaments, with buy-ins ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. The main event buy in remains at the usual $10,000 level, and in keeping with last year the final nine competitors will have a few months break – returning in November to determine the champion.
Pre-registration is very important for those wishing to take part. There is a cap on the number of attendees for each event, and entries are allocated on a first come first served basis. Once an event is filled up, it will be marked as sold out.
WSOP tournament director Jack Effel said “As now customary, no alternates will be seated at the 2009 World Series of Pker. We encourage players to pre-register early to guarantee their seats.”
Pre-registration will be open until two weeks before the start of each event, and registrants will need to finalize their registration by presenting valid proof of ID (e.g. a passport or driver’s license), before they will be able to take their assigned seat.
