Peterborough bingo hall reports huge increase in attendance.
A Peterborough venue is bucking the trend for bingo club closures after seeing its attendance levels rocket in recent months.According to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, staff at the Gala Bingo club in Westfield Road have occasionally been forced to turn people away due to the sudden popularity of the numbers game.
The club has recorded a 400 per cent increase in attendance, with many people turning to bingo for a budget-friendly night out during the recession.
Craig Hobson, general manager at the Peterborough venue, told the newspaper that a series of special offers had reignited the passion for bingo among local people.
"We have gone from being in the doldrums to turning people away on some nights because we are so busy in just a few months," he explained.
"People are looking for good value for money when they go for a night out and we offer that."
Gala Bingo has recently launched a new online bingo service fronted by Sharon Osbourne.
