Part-time poker dealer playing in first round at the Crucible.
A casino croupier from north London is set to take his place among the world's greatest snooker players in Sheffield this weekend.Martin Gould, who works part-time as a poker club dealer when not practising at the baize, is preparing to make his debut in the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.
Known as 'The Pinner Potter', Gould faces Northern Ireland's Mark Allen in the first round on Sunday (April 19th) and will meet world number one Ronnie O'Sullivan at the second stage if both players win their opening matches.
Gould told the Harrow Observer that he will try to stay relaxed despite the prospect of playing O'Sullivan, the defending champion.
"I'm trying not to think about it too much. This will be the first time I've been there as a player," the 27-year-old said.
"I'll go there, enjoy myself and try to produce some good snooker."
Three-time winner O'Sullivan is aiming to become the first player to retain the World Snooker Championship title since Stephen Hendry in 1996.
