EPT Grand Final provides venue for celebrity poker tournament
Ante Up for Africa, the high-profile US charity poker tournament, is set to take place in Europe for the first time later this month.Organised by Hollywood star Don Cheadle and poker player Annie Duke, the event raises money for the crisis in Darfur by inviting a host of celebrities and professional card sharps to take part in a game of Texas hold'em.
PokerStars has announced that the first Ante Up for Africa Europe event will take place in Monte Carlo during the European Poker Tour's Grand Final week, which runs from April 28th to May 3rd.
The 4,000 (£3,556) buy-in tournament will feature PokerStars pros such as Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem and Vanessa Rousso, as well as other celebrities and poker professionals.
According to PokerStars, Ante Up for Africa has raised nearly $2 million (£1.3 million) for humanitarian aid in Sudan since its first event in 2007.
This year's main tournament will take place at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on July 2nd.
