Business guru shows how poker can improve enterprise knowledge.

A north-east entrepreneur will explain how an understanding of poker can lead to business success at an event in Middlesbrough today (April 22nd).

Caspar Berry spent several years living in Las Vegas as a professional poker player and has used his experience to develop a seminar entitled Risk-taking and Decision-making in Poker, Business and Life.

A former actor and screenwriter, Mr Berry is set to deliver this session at Middlesbrough's Thistle Hotel as part of a series of events organised by the Middlesbrough Business Forum.

He explained that his philosophy is based on appreciating risk and learning to manage its effects.

"Whether you make a living playing poker, trading in the markets or managing junior executives, risk plays a role," Mr Berry told the Evening Gazette.

"Using stories about poker as the metaphor, I guide people into a whole new area of knowledge."

Now 35, Mr Berry began his career in the popular BBC1 children's drama Byker Grove, before studying economics and anthropology at Cambridge.

He has since founded the company Twenty First Century Media and worked as a poker adviser on Casino Royale, the 2006 James Bond film.
