New bidder for Great Yarmouth gambling licence

Property developer reveals plan for Golden Mile casino venue in Great Yarmouth.

A property developer has put his cards on the table in the battle to build Great Yarmouth's new casino.

Trevor Osborne, who runs a high-profile property business based in Bath, is interested in creating a new casino and entertainment complex on the Golden Mile, the Eastern Daily Press reports.

Much of the current debate surrounding the casino project is centred on whether it should be built on the council-owned Golden Mile site or elsewhere in the Norfolk resort.

"We are convinced the Golden Mile is the right place for the casino," Mr Osborne told the newspaper.

"It is an established leisure location and would help to connect the beach area to the town centre."

Mr Osborne also indicated that the investment involved in his plan would be "considerably more" than the £35 million estimated by the other two schemes proposed so far.

Albert Jones, owner of the Pleasure Beach in Great Yarmouth, is hoping to win the casino licence for his planned development at the outer harbour.
