Poker Players Descend on Salzburg for 2009 ECPokerTour

A total of 123 poker players from 20 countries arrived in Austria for the three-day tournament

Australian Jacob Chen has won the ECPokerTour Salzburg 2009 tournament after beating German rival Andreas Schmidt.

The competition, which was held at the five-star Alpine Palace Card Casino and involved 123 poker players from over 20 countries, kicked off on April 3rd.

By the third day of the tournament, nine of the world's top poker profiles took their seats at the final table before Chen and Schmidt battled it out for the €47,302 prize.

Commenting after his victory, Chen said: "I am breathless".

The lavish tournament saw players mingling in first-class accommodation and at an open bar gala party, with respected photographer Erwin Gabriel in attendance.

Regarded as one of the most prestigious new live tournament series on the European poker circuit, the ECPokerTour is known for its premier European destinations and large prize offerings.

Jose Antonio Landa finished in third place and took home a prize of €20,140. Schmidt's reward stood at €30,480.ADNFCR-1691-ID-19149249-ADNFCR
