Sports Betting Firm Expects Late Run On Hatton

Hatton fights Pacquiao in Las Vegas on Saturday

Sports betting firm predicts patriotic bets for Saturday's Hatton fight.

Experts at Sky Bet have predicted a late flurry of wagers from patriotic punters ahead of Ricky Hatton's 'super fight' with Manny Pacquiao on Saturday (May 2nd).

Much of the early betting has focused on Pacquiao, making him the bookmakers' favourite to win the bout in Las Vegas and retain his unofficial status as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter.

However, Sky Bet's boxing compiler Scott Springgay expects British boxing fans to back Hatton heavily in the hours leading up to his showdown with the Filipino.

"I expect to see money for all markets involving a Hatton victory," Mr Springgay said.

"Although Hatton is the fans' favourite, we won't be cheering him on as I have no doubt he will be a huge loser for us come the starting bell."

Sky Bet is currently offering 1/2 on Pacquiao to win and prices a Hatton victory at 6/4.

Speaking about his chances last week, a confident Hatton told the Independent that boxing punters should "remortgage the house and put it all on me".
