Bookmakers pleased with 4-4 draw between Chelsea and Liverpool.
British bookmakers are celebrating after last night's Champions League clash between Chelsea and Liverpool produced another shock result. With Chelsea leading 3-1 from last week's first leg, the quarter-final second-leg match at Stamford Bridge finished 4-4, a scoreline that was priced at 100/1 with William Hill before kick-off.
That follows two other 100/1 shots in recent sporting events - Mon Mome's triumph in the Grand National on April 4th and victory for Argentine golfer Angel Cabrera at the Masters last Sunday.
Graham Sharpe, spokesperson for William Hill, described the events as "the greatest hat-trick of major sporting upsets in a row that we can recall in the last thirty years".
He explained that the firm is currently in "bookie heaven" because "virtually no-one" backed any of the three results.
Last week, Stan James spokesperson Charlie McCann said that Mon Mome's Grand National win had been a "shot in the arm" for the UK betting industry.
The nine-year-old romped home by 12 lengths to become the first 100/1 chance to win at Aintree since Foinavon in 1967.
