Mecca Bingo issues ban to Chester woman

Long-standing bingo player banned from bingo halls around the country.

A 76-year-old woman has been barred from every Mecca Bingo venue in the UK after visiting the club of a rival operator.

Rosalyn Clemson will no longer be able to play the numbers game at her local Mecca hall in Chester, despite being a member for over 50 years, as the firm claims she has broken club rules.

She was given the ban after organising a trip to Club 2000, another bingo venue in nearby Runcorn, with a group of friends.

"All I did was organise a little trip to Runcorn for a change of scene for me and a few friends," Ms Clemson explained.

"The way the Mecca reacted you would think I was some kind spy or traitor to the cause."

Following the visit to Club 2000, Ms Clemson received a letter informing her that she would not be welcome in any of Mecca's 102 bingo clubs nationwide. Her husband Frank has also been banned.

Mecca Bingo recently announced the winner of its Buddy of the Year competition, with Sarah Bartin from Exeter taking the prize.
