Bingo party held in remembrance of Wiltshire woman.
A family from Wiltshire organised a special bingo event in memory of Pat Smith, who died from pancreatic cancer last April.Known for her love of bingo, the mother-of-five from Bradford on Avon spent the final days of her struggle against the illness being cared for by the Dorothy House Hospice, thisiswiltshire.co.uk reports.
For this reason, Ms Smith's family decided to hold a bingo-themed party to remember her and raise money for the hospice last week.
"She was bingo-mad, she absolutely loved it. When she was well she would probably go five nights out of seven," daughter Jane Allberry told the news provider.
"We would like it to be an annual thing to raise money for Dorothy House," she added.
The first event, held at the Avon Sports and Social Club in Bradford on Avon, generated a total of £1,781 for the charity.
Dorothy House was founded in Bath in 1976 and aims to provide physical and psychological care to families and patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses or bereavement.
