Spanish firm helps to develop new bingo technology for use in UK.

A gaming executive has enlisted the help of a Spanish company to develop new bingo technology for the UK market.

Simon Thomas, former operator of Beacon Bingo, joined forces with Madrid-based firm Metronia to create new games for use in British bingo clubs, InterGame Online reports.

With new company World Bingo Tech now established, the bingo products have been tested by a leading UK operator and recently received the approval of the Gambling Commission.

In an interview with the gaming website, Mr Thomas explained that Metronia has helped to create an updated version of the traditional numbers game.

"Bingo is still a great product, a great game, but it needs to modernise," he said.

"In Spain they have introduced the modern bingo concepts and the decline there has not only been arrested but new clubs are opening and profits are increasing."

Mr Thomas is one of the driving forces behind the £15 million casino development taking place at the London Hippodrome.
